1000 Views and more Sixth Edition Action!

First, I want to say ANOTHER big thank you to everyone who continues to read and support this blog. I don’t know if it’s spreading by word of mouth, or just because I’ve actually started tagging my posts, but the view rate has gone crazy these last few months! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

I could gush and keep thanking you, but I know that’s not why you’re here! You’re here for more funky Sixth Edition bits and pieces, so without further ado, here we go!

Raven Guard:
Librarian – Epistolary, Jump Pack
Assault Marine x10 – Power Fist, Stormshield, Plasma Pistol x2, Melta Bomb
Tactical Marine x10 – Combi-Melta, Power Weapon, Melta Gun, Rocket Launcher
Tactical Marine x10 – Combi-Melta, Power Weapon, Melta Gun, Rocket Launcher
Scout x8 – Sgt Telion, Sniper Rifle x6, Rocket Launcher, Camo Cloaks
Storm Talon x2 – Lascannons.

Dark Angels:
Tactical Marine x20
Rhino x2
Devastator Marine x10 – Rocket Launcher x4
Assault Marine x10 – Power Fist
Land Speeder Typhoon x2

Mission: Crusade (4)
Deployment: Hammer of Wrath (1st)
Warlord Trait: Master of Offence

Turn 1 – I actually decided to go first for once, and immediately realised the massive (and I mean HUGE) mistake I’d made. The Scouts forgot to SCOUT into the building, and as a result couldn’t get into position to fire their Sniper Rifles.

The Dark Angels took advantage of this, shooting the absolute crap out of Shrike and his Assault Marines, while charging the Scouts. No Dark Angels were killed for the loss of Telion (who I forgot was WS5!) and three other Scouts. Somehow they held on, though their situation wasn’t looking all that happy.

Turn 2 – The Storm Talons both arrive promptly, as they always have done. Between them they tear the Predator and a Rhino to pieces, making me feel a tiny bit happier about my situation, although I still have to fight through an awful lot of firepower if I’m to do any good here… Shrike and the Librarian (and the paltry remnants of their unit) jump in and absolutely massacre the Devastators, though the Dark Angel Librarian somehow survived. (Member of The Fallen, methinks!)

In other news, the remaining Scouts were beaten to pulpy goo by the Dark Angel Assault Squad.

Turn 3 – The Storm Talons pick off the Vindicator before it can do any damage, though one of my Tactical Squads is then promptly wiped off of their objective by the rampaging Assault Squad. The Fallen Librarian finally meets his end at the pointy end of Shrike’s claws.

Turn 4 – Shrike and the Librarian are finally killed, this time by being out in the open at the wrong moment (I really misjudged that charge, I need to learn to pre-measure!)

Turn 5 – I manage to make one of the Dark Angel Tactical Squads withdraw, though they promptly regroup and move forwards once again.

Turn 6 – The Storm Talons, both firing only snap shots due to the fact they’d jinked the previous turn, manage to inflict enough wounds on the Tactical Marines to make them fall back again. Sadly, they rally (AGAIN) and still hold the objective as the game ends.

Result: Raven Guard: First Blood (1), Slay the Warlord (1) = 2
Dark Angels: Slay the Warlord (1), 2x Objectives (6), Linebreaker (1) = 8

Raven Guard:
As above.

Necron Lord x2
Cryptek x3
Necron Warrior x40
Canoptek Spyder x20
Canoptek Wraith x3
Necron Immortal x10
Doomsday Ark

Mission: Scouring
Deployment: Dawn of War (2nd)
Warlord: Master of Offence

Turn 1 – The Doomsday Ark kills 2 Tactical Marines. The Canoptek Wraiths fail to charge my Sniper Scouts, though the Scarabs make it and kill all but the Rocket Launcher, who flees.

The Scout rallies and puts an amazing snap-fire Krak Missile through a Wraith, killing it stone dead. Across the board, the Tactical Squad closest to the Doomsday Ark put a Krak Missile through the Quantum Shielding, exploding the thing in one hit, while the other Tactical Squad put down another Wraith with, you guessed it, a Krak Missile! In assault, Shrike and his mates wipe the closest unit of Warriors off of the objective, though the Necron Lord manages to stagger back to his feet.

Turn 2 – Shrike and his mates kill the Necron Lord again, though this time he stays dead. Scarabs charge up the hill to assault the Tactical Squad on my left flank. The Overlord teleports his squad closer to Shrike and his Squad, though they scatter a bit and the incoming fire does little damage to the already hurting Assault Marines.

The Storm Talons fail to arrive, the first time they’ve done that since Monday! (I know, this is only game #4, they’ll be delayed again in the future!) Shrike and his mates then proceed to charge through the Necron Deployment Zone, shredding another unit of Necrons, with the Cryptek and Overlord staying dead.

Turn 3 – The Storm Talons finally arrive, and kill a grand total of TWO (yes two) Immortals. Not Immortal SQUADS, Immortals. It’s been a game of first failures for these guys! Shrike and the Librarian leave their squad on an objective (Fast Attack choices are scoring in Scouring) and charge the lone Wraith. It went a little bit wrong (see “tits up”) as the Wraith passed ALL it’s 3+ Invulnerable saves, and then promptly ripped the Librarian to pieces!

Unfortunately, this was when we ran out of time…

Result: Raven Guard: 2x Objectives (4+3=7), Slay the Warlord (1), First Blood (1), Linebreaker (1) = 10
Necrons: 2x Objectives (2+1=3) = 3

These two games were really fun and goes to show that despite people’s moaning, the game hasn’t changed all that much and Necrons are by no means the army of absolute win. Tactical Squads on the other hand…

Anyway, I think I’m getting used to 6th now… remembering my Psychic Powers have to be cast at the BEGINNING of my Movement Phase is going to be a pain, but I think I’ll manage.

Once again, thanks for the views 🙂

Until next time!
